... hearing other people's passions

I have a passion for hearing other people's passions. This might sound lame, but I think it's genuinely exciting to listen to someone share what they love. Even when I'm not particularly interested in it, if there's true passion behind what's being said, it's engaging and fun and exciting to me.

Here's an example: I took a class at Trinity where we all had to present information on something --I don't remember what the common thread was. There were a lot of presentations that were very good, and others that weren't as good. But one person's presentation stuck out to me. Dan Powell talked about sharing the Gospel where you are, as opposed to feeling like you need to go overseas. He didn't say anything against going overseas, he just shared how important he felt it was to him to be willing to share with your neighbor, and people that are around you. I don't know if he feels that he does a good job with this or not, but I could tell he really cared about it, and it made his presentation interesting and worthwhile. And it made me think about what the things are that I care about like that.

So whether it be something deeply important like this, or even something less weighty, like sports, music, roller coaters, food, tv shows... hearing someone speak passionately about something is wonderful. And so this is a blog for anyone who would like to share something they're passionate about --big or small, important or not. If you'd like to submit a post, send it to me at timophus@aol.com, and I'll post it here. I hope to hear from you soon...
